Product Description

Greece issues a 10 Euro coin every year depicting a so-called Europa Star. The theme of this 2019 Greek Europa Star 10 Euro is 'The Renaissance'. The Renaissance literally means rebirth and dates back to the years 1300 to 1600, the period that followed the Middle Ages. Florence is seen as the first city to be built during the Renaissance and 'Carpe Diem' (seize the day) was the maxim. The Renaissance spread from Florence further and further into Italy and eventually spread to almost all of Europe. The Renaissance did not reach all of Greece because some areas were still part of the Ottoman Empire. On the face of the coin is an image of Domenikos Theotokopoulos (1549-1614) who was the best-known Greek artist from the time of the Renaissance. What is striking about this coin is that a very beautiful purple glow appears next to the image of Domenikos Theotokopoulos. The value indication of 10 Euro is also shown to the left of the image. On the reverse of the coin the Greek Coat of Arms is depicted centrally together with the text 'Hellenic Republic', in Greek. The large and small logo of the Europa Star are also pictured along with the year 2019. The coin is presented in luxury packaging and is supplied with a numbered certificate.
