Product Description
Greece 10 Euro 2022 'Xenophon'. Xenophon was a Greek writer who lived around 430 BC. He was born near Athens, in the Attic deme (Erchia suburb). Xenophon came from a wealthy aristocratic family. He had a very good relationship with Socrates which had a great influence on his writing. Xenophon went along with the Peloponnesian War and later wrote his best-known book about it 'Anabasis'. He eventually defected to the Spartans and became a friend of the then current King 'Agesilaus II'. For his services rendered he received from Sparta a large piece of land near Scillus, where he lived for years. In the end he had to flee here, because Sparta lost a great battle to the Thebans. He then went to Corinth, where he eventually died. On the face of the coin is a portrait of Xenophon and his name is displayed in Greek. The year of issue, 2022, is also shown. The coat of arms of Greece is displayed on the reverse of the coin together with the value indication of 10 Euro. The coin is presented in a beautiful case and is supplied with a certificate of authenticity. The mintage of this coin is only 1,500 copies.
