Product Description
2000 years ago Philippi was an important city on the road from Rome to Istanbul, located in ancient Macedonia. The apostle Paul visited this city, he was imprisoned there where he wrote his famous letter to the Philippians. In the 14th century Philippi was destroyed by the Ottomans. Philippi was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2016. On this special Greek coin the æBasilica BÆ with its linear motifs, inspired by a border pattern from an ancient Greek mosaic found at the ruins, is depicted. In Greek, the text reads ARCHEOLOGICAL SITE OF PHILIPPI AND GREECE REPUBLIC. Between the text and the image of Basilica B the year 2017 is shown. In this coincard the special 2 Euro 2017 of Greece "Philippi" is mounted. On the front of the Coincard is an image of the remains of the "Basilica B". Furthermore, this coin is described in detail on the coincard and the technical data of this particular Greek 2 Euro coin is also printed.
