Greece 2 Euro 2022 '200 Years Greek Constitution'. It is 200 years ago that Greece adopted the Greek Constitution at the First National Assembly of Epidaurus. This created what is now Greece. The Greek state was not recognized by the major powers at this time, but decided that the Greek state was under Ottoman Sovereignty. The Ottoman Empire refused this which led to a major naval battle on 20th October, 1827. The Greeks won this naval battle and not much later Greece declared its independence. To commemorate the adoption of the Greek Constitution 200 years ago, Greece has decided to issue this special 2 Euro coin. On the face of the coin the Greek God Asclepius, God of Medicine, is depicted standing in front of the Temple of Asclepius. The years 1822 and 2022 are also shown. The coin is mounted in a beautiful Coincard.
