Greece UNC 2019

This is the complete set of 2019 Euro coins from Greece. The Greek 1, 2 & 5 cent coins are based on the Greek bond with the sea. On the 1 cent coin an ancient Greek warship, a so-called Trireme, is depicted. On the 2 Cent coin is an image of a Corvette. A Corvette is a warship that was deployed against the Turks during the Greek struggle for independence. On the Greek 5 cent coins is a modern tanker. On the 10 cent coins of Greece Rigas Fereos is portrayed. The writer / politician Rigas Fereos (1757-1798) was, in his day, a champion for the liberation of the Balkans and Greece. The 20 cent coin shows an image of Ioannis Kapodistrias, a Count and Diplomat, who was the first head of state of independent Greece from Ottoman times. The 50 cent coin shows an image of Eleftherios Venizelos who was the most important Greek statesman of the early 20th century. The 1 Euro coin shows the Owl of Athens. This Owl was first depicted on Greek coins more than 2,500 years ago! On the 2 Euro coin the princess Europa is depicted sitting upon a cow. Zeus fell in love with her and turned himself into a cow and kidnapped her. Various 2019 coins from Greece will not come into circulation as loose coins.
