Greece UNC 2020

This is the 2020 Greek UNC set. The Greek 1, 2 & 5 cent coins are themed around the Greek bond with the sea. The Greek 1 cent coins depict an ancient Greek warship, a so-called Trireme. The 2 Cent coins show a picture of a Corvette, a warship that was used during the Greek struggle for independence against the Turks. A modern tanker is depicted on the 5 cent coins. The 10 cent coins of Greece feature an image of the writer/politician Rigas Fereos (1757-1798) who, in his time, was an advocate for the liberation of the Balkans and Greece. The 20 cent coin features an image of Ioannis Kapodistrias who was a Count and Diplomat and was the first head of state of independent Greece from Ottoman times. The 50 cent coin features an image of Eleftherios Venizelos who was the most important Greek statesman of the early 20th century. The Owl of Athena is depicted on the 1 Euro coin. This Owl was first shown on Greek coins over 2,500 years ago! The 2 Euro coin portrays the Princess Europa on a cow. Zeus fell in love with her and turned himself into a cow and kidnapped her. Various 2020 Greek coins will not come into circulation separately.
