Netherlands 5 Euro 2018 Wageningen Silver Proof

In the year 2018 it will be 100 years since the "Rijks Landbouw Hooge School" (National University of Agriculture) in Wageningen was founded. This is the leading University in the world after 100 years. More than 12,000 students from about 100 countries study there and the school employs 5,500 people! To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the University of Wageningen, a special silver 5 Euro coin was issued on 2 November 2018. On the face and reverse of the coin a Sunflower is displayed in such a way that it takes some imagination to see this. Everyone knows that a Sunflower turns to face the sun during the day and in the night turns back to the East. On the face of the coin the sunflower is seen, as it were, in fields and meadows. Furthermore, there is a seedling at the bottom of the coin. To the right is the Erlenmeyer, the symbol of science. On the left side of the coin are two circles that run into each other. In the top circle is the value indication of 5 Euro and in the bottom circle the logo of the University of Wageningen is depicted. Around the upper part of the coin is the English text "Wageningen University & Research" and at the bottom is the text æ100 yearsÆ along with the years 1918 and 2018. On the reverse of the coin is a representation of a Sunflower central to which is the silhouetted face of King Willem Alexander looking to the right. Around this sunflower is the Dutch text "Willem-Alexander Koning Der Nederlanden". The quality of this robust silver coin is silver Proof. This coin cannot be compared to the coins in the quality BU or UNC. The Silver Proof coin has a diameter of no less than 33 millimetres and weighs 15.5 grams. The coin is presented in a luxurious package in which not only the coin is described, but also how the coin was created. The edition of this luxurious silver edition is only 4,000 copies.
