Netherlands 5 Euro 2022 'Mondriaan' - Silver Proof. The Netherlands has issued a 5 Euro coin with the theme 'Mondriaan'. Pieter Cornelis (Piet) Mondriaan was born in Amersfoort on 7th March, 1872. Mondriaan was a Dutch painter known for his abstract and non-figurative art. His later works with the primary colours (red, yellow and blue) are world famous. His primary colours, a clear division of the surface and the asymmetric use of lines resulted in a unique style. Piet Mondriaan was born 150 years ago, which is why the Royal Dutch Mint has decided to issue a special 5 Euro coin commemorating this. On the face of the coin is an asymmetrical connecting line. His name PIET MONDRIAAN is displayed, together with the value indication of 5 Euro and the year of issue, 2022. On the reverse of the coin is a portrait of King Willem-Alexander (King of the Netherlands). This coin cannot be compared with the BU or UNC quality coins. The Silver Proof Coin has a diameter of no less than 33 millimetres and weighs 15.5 grams. The coin is presented in a luxurious package in which not only the coin is described in more detail, but also how the coin was created. The edition of this luxurious silver edition is only 4,000 copies.
