The Netherlands 2 Euro 2020 Coincard "Nijntje" (Miffy)

Dick Bruna was born on 23rd August, 1927 in the city of Utrecht and became famous with his children's books entitled 'Nijntje'. He wrote his first Nijntje book in 1955. He originally drew this story for his son, during their vacation at Egmond aan Zee. In total Dick Bruna published 32 books about Nijntje that have been translated into more than 50 languages! Abroad Nijntje was often referred to as Miffy. The first Miffy appeared 65 years ago which is why the Dutch mint has decided to issue a Coincard. In the Coincard, the Normal 2020 Dutch 2 Euro coin is mounted together with an extra token. Dick Bruna is depicted on the face of the token whilst Miffy is depicted on the reverse.
