Product Description

2021 Ireland 10 Euro coin 'Dublin Cathedral' - Christ Church Cathedral is Dublin's oldest building. Initially, in the year 1030, a small church was built on this site, but during the Norman invasion this church was demolished and a large Gothic style cathedral was built. Christ Church Cathedral was heavily restored in the 19th century but large parts of the original cathedral, including the ornate Gothic arches and sculpture, were left intact. Many neo-Gothic elements were added to the cathedral in the 19th century, including the iconic covered footbridge that is still present today. The Christ Church Cathedral is depicted on the face of the coin and the value of 10 Euro is also displayed. In the year 2021 several countries issued a coin with the theme 'Gothic Architecture', the coin is part of the Europa Star programme. The Europa star is clearly visible on the reverse of the coin in its large and small formats. The Irish harp is also shown together with the country name 'EIRE' (Ireland) and the year of issue, 2021. The coin is presented in a beautiful case and is limited to 2,000 copies.
