2020 Ireland 15 Euro coin 'Luke Kelly'. Ireland has issued a special 15 Euro coin in honour of Luke Kelly. This coin was minted in 2020 but not issued until 2023 due to Corona virus! Luke Kelly is an Irish music icon known for the Irish band 'The Dubliners'. He was born in Dublin on 17th November, 1940 and achieved enormous success and scored several hit records with the Dubliners. A man known for his pride in his working-class roots, his political activism and his passionate voice that was characteristic of his songs. Even though Luke Kelly died in 1984 his songs are sung and played every day in all of the pubs in Ireland. The obverse of the coin features an image of Luke Kelly, his name and a guitar. The reverse of the coin shows the Irish harp, the country name, EIRE (Ireland) and the year of issue, 2020. The coin is presented in a beautiful cassette and has a mintage of only 3,000 copies.
