Product Description
Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most famous people of antiquity who was known as a true genius. Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519), who died 500 years ago, was a painter, writer, physicist, chemist, engineer, philosopher, inventor, architect and so on! Leonardo da Vinci painted a lot but did not finish many of his works. Of the paintings that he did finish the best-known are 'The Mona Lisa' and 'The Last Supper'. A less well-known work that he painted in 1489-1490 is 'The Lady with the Ermine'. In this painting a woman is shown holding an ermine. An ermine is from the family of the marten-like predators that are found all over the world. Ermine look like weasels and polecats. This Leonardo da Vinci work is in the National Museum of Krakow. The 2019 Italian €2 coin 'Leonardo da Vinci' shows a detail of the painting 'The Lady with the Ermine'. The face of a woman looking to the right is shown along with the years 1519 and 2019. On the left are the letters MAC (the initials of the designer Maria Angela Cassol). The interlaced letters 'R' & 'I' for 'Repubblica Italiana' are also displayed. The coin is packed in a printed coin holder.
