Italy 5 Euro 2019 Cesare Maccari

Cesare Maccari was an Italian painter and sculptor (1840 - 1919) who has produced many great works in his retired life. Cesare Maccari preferred to make his works alone and would prefer to have no-one around him while working. Cesare Maccari was a beloved painter and was offered many works. However, he never started many works because he did not see the purpose and usefulness of the works concerned. It is 100 years ago that Cesare Maccari died, which is why Italy has decided to issue a 5 Euro coin in his memory. The face of the coin shows the facade of the Palazzo Madama (city palace) in Rome. The country name 'REPUBBLICA ITALIANA' (Republic of Italy) is also shown. On the reverse of the coin a detail of the most famous work by Cesare Maccari, namely 'Cicerone denuncia Catalina' (Cicero criticizes Catiline). The years 1919 and 2019 are shown in the centre. At the bottom of the coin is the value indication of 5 Euro. The coin is presented in a beautiful cassette.
