Latvia 2 Euro 2020 Ceramics from Letgallen Coincard

The theme of the 2 Euro coin of Latvia 2020 is 'Ceramics from Latvia'. Ceramics, also called pottery, is one of the older art forms of Latvia. Letgallen Ceramics is known for the simple gradients of the colours, where the brownish colours can turn into a blue-purple glow. Letgallen Ceramics are still made in an authentic way, with a number of products having a nostalgic background. For example, pots that are made especially for honey storage (medaunieks), pots that are made for storing goat's milk (kazelnieks) and mugs (kruze) which are made from which one can drink a delicious Aldaris. On the obverse of the coin is a traditional Latvian candlestick, under which is the text 'LATGALES KERAMIKA' (Letgallen Ceramics). At the top of the coin the country name LATVIJA (Latvia) is shown, with the year of issue, 2020, shown at the upper left. The coin is mounted in a beautiful Coincard of which the edition is only 5,000 copies.
