2021 Latvia 2 Euro coin '100 Years Recognition Latvia'. Latvia has issued the special 2 Euro of 2021 100 Years Recognition of Latvia. On 11th November, 1918 the First World War was finally over and Latvia declared their independence. However, this did not mean freedom for Latvia because within a week Latvia was again attacked by Russia. After a bloody battle that killed a quarter of the Latvian population this war ended on 11th August 1920. Latvia was recognized as an independent state on 26th January, 1921. To celebrate that Latvia has been recognized for 100 years, it has been decided to issue a special 2 Euro coin about this. On the face of the coin is the text '100 LATVIJA DE JURE 2021' (100 years Recognition of Latvia). The coin is packed in a printed coin holder.
