Latvia 2 x 2,5 Euro 2017 Eduards Veidenbaums

You're like a falling star from heaven, so a friend of Eduard Veidenbaums described this famous Latvian poet. Eduard Veidenbaums (1867-1892) wrote revolutionary poems that were strictly forbidden at that time. His texts and descriptions were often incorporated into pieces of music and, sometimes, are still quoted today! Examples of these are "the clouds that appear like white swans" - or "my thoughts are deep". Eduard Veidenbaums studied at the University of Tartu. One characteristic of Eduard Veidenbaums was his spectacles that he always wore. It was economically worse at that time and he tried to save as much as possible. Also on food, drink and clothes. In the winter of 1891-1892 he travelled for a few hours in a too thin coat and caught tuberculosis. This became fatal for him and he died in May 1892 at the age of only 25 years. Most of his works were published after his death. To commemorate that 2017 is the 150th anniversary of the birth of Eduard Veidenbaums Latvia has issued a very special set of two c oins with a nominal value of 2.5 Euro each. On the face of these coins a number of floating clouds are shown. There are also some typical texts from Veidenbaums, translated as "I would love to follow them very far" and "far away where winter never comes". On one of the coins the year 2017 is seen in a cloud, and the other coin shows the value of 2.5 Euro below the cloud. The reverse of both coins is almost the same, seeing a trace of footsteps in the snow, the snow and cold that became fatal. On the first coin is his first name Eduard with the value of 2,5 Euro at the bottom. On the second coin is his surname, Veidenbaums, with the year 2017 at the bottom. The two coins are presented in a unique way û in a luxury package with a coupling piece to represent the coins in the shape of Veidenbaums characteristic spectacles! Together with this luxury package, naturally, a certificate is provided.
