Latvia 5 Euro 2018 Garden of Destiny

In the 20th century many Latvians suffered from the violence of the various wars. In the various wars there were no less than 600,000 victims, about 30% of the population! Every family has lost someone in these wars. A few years ago the idea arose, as a wish of the Latvian people, to create a national memorial site for these victims. This memorial site became a small island in the river Daugava near Koknese. The island is called the æGarden of DestinyÆ and was officially opened in 2018 as part of the celebration of 100 years of Latvia. Every inhabitant of Latvia who has lost someone, because of the war violence, may plant an apple tree on the Island. On the face of the coin the striking Amphitheatre is depicted surrounded by the Daugava river. These are coloured Blue - Green. At the bottom of the coin is the text "Liktendarzs" (Garden of Destiny) with the year 2018 next to it. Furthermore, the value indication of 5 Euro is shown. A number of people are portrayed on the reverse of this special silver coin. At the bottom of the coin is the country name Latvija (Latvia). The coin is presented in a luxury package and is delivered with a certificate. It is worth mentioning that this coin was only available locally and in principle would not be delivered abroad!
