Product Description

It has been 125 years since Niklavs Strunke was born. Niklavs Strunke (1894-1966) was a Latvian painter, graphic artist, designer and a theatrical artist. Niklavs Strunke was known for his cheerful personality and creative spirit. When Latvia was officially recognized as an independent country in 1918 the career of Niklavs Strunke began. Latvian artists were looking for their own artistic personality and were inspired by many creative movements that were reflected in their works. His set designs and his paintings are among his top works which are still very popular today. His paintings radiate the simplicity whereby he was able to work in a very abstract way. One of his most prominent works, the painting 'Man who enters a room' (1927), is depicted on the reverse of this collector coin 'Niklavs Strunke'. The value indication of 5 Euro is also displayed. In the meantime, the obverse of the coin shows a fragment of his painting 'Self-portrait with a doll' (1921). His name Niklavs Strunke, the country name Latvija (Latvia) together with the year 2019 are also displayed. This silver €5 coin is presented in an attractive package.
