Product Description

This is the second coin from the annual series of Euro coins with the theme Folklore in Lithuania. The theme of the 1.5 Euro of the year 2018 is FiDi. This is the abbreviation of the Day of Physicists in Lithuanian. In Lithuania, a joke is often told that Lithuania is the country of Basketball and Physics. This is because physicists are often seen as a special group with a special sense of humour. Every year in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, there is a large procession of the Physics Students. Their mascot is "Dinas Zauras", or Dinosaur. In the year 2018 this parade is organized for the 50th time and to celebrate this, Lithuania has issued a special coin of 1.5 Euro. On the face of the coin Dinas Zauras is portrayed on his wagon. Furthermore, there are a number of figures, in the form of a circle that float in the air. On the left side of the coin is see the text "FiDi 50" and "Vilniaus Universitetas". In the centre of the reverse of the coin is the Logo of FiDi 50. Vytis, the national symbol of Lithuania, is of course not missing on the coin and is shown at the top right. Furthermore, under the logo, the value indication of 1.5 Euro is shown. At the top of the coin the country name Lietuva (Lithuania) along with the year 2018 are printed.
