Product Description

2021 Lithuania 1.50 Euro coin 'Egle - The Queen of Serpents'. The Lithuanian folktale 'Egle - The Queen of Serpents' is about three fishermen's daughters and the serpent named Zilvinas. The story takes place in the town of Palanga. After an evening swim in the Baltic Sea it turned out that the snake 'Zilvinas' was in the youngest daughter's clothes. This daughter, Egle, was obliged to marry Zilvinas. Three days later Egle was taken by tens of thousands of snakes. In the end Egle missed her family so much that she went back to the coast. Zilvinas went with her but was murdered by her family - the sea turned red. Egle, who really loved Zilvinas, turned herself and her children into trees. Egle and Zilvinas are depicted on the face of the coin. The coat of arms of Lithuania is displayed on the reverse of the coin in the form of an embroidery. Furthermore, the value indication of €1.50 and the year of issue, 2021, are displayed. The coin is packed in a printed coin holder.
