Product Description
The 2 Euro coin of Lithuania 2021 has the theme of the 'Zuvintas Biosphere Reserve'. Lake Zuvintas is a lake of 9.65 sq.km. and is the shallowest lake in Lithuania. With an average depth of 0.60 metres and a maximum depth of 3 metres, it is a paradise for waterfowl and many other animal and plant species. The Zuvintas Biosphere Reserve consists of more than 4,200 animal, plant and fungal species and many new species are being discovered every year! As many as 137 species found there are included in the list of protected fauna, flora and fungi of the Republic of Lithuania. The face of the coin shows the characteristic environment of the Zuvintas Biosphere Reserve - secluded islets, a paradise for waterfowl. Also on the face of the coin a bittern is depicted that wants to eat a fire-bellied toad. Furthermore, a water-reed warbler is shown clinging to the reed. At the top of the coin a number of cranes in flight are shown together with a mute swan. Additionally, the name of the lake 'Zuvintas' is displayed along with the country name 'LIETUVA' (Lithuania) and the year of issue, 2021. The coin is mounted in a beautiful Coincard, of which only 5,000 copies have been produced.
