Luxembourg 2.5 Euro 2019 University of Luxembourg

The University of Luxembourg was built in 2003 and is the only university in Luxembourg. The university in the capital is built on an old piece of industry that covers no less than 650 hectares. It is a new university that has established itself in a unique location where an 84-metre-high tower and a 180-metre-long building form the core of the university. It is striking that Belval's blast furnaces are located behind the university. These blast furnaces were the largest blast furnaces in Europe in 1911, but have been completely silent since 1997. It brings a wonderful contrast between the more than 100-year-old blast furnaces and the modern-built university. The face of the coin shows the university together with the Belval blast furnaces. At the top of the coin is the text 'Université du Luxembourg' (University of Luxembourg) and at the bottom the value indication of 2.5 Euro is shown. On the reverse of the coin Grand Duke Henri is portrayed looking to the right. The country name, in the Luxembourg language (LËTZEBUERG), is shown vertically with the year 2019 next to it. The edition of this coin is only 2,500 and the coin is presented in a luxury package.
