Luxembourg 2 Euro 2020 Prince Charles Proof

Luxembourg issued its second 2 Euro in 2020 with the theme 'Prince Charles', whose full name is Prince Charles Jean Philippe Marie Guillaume û Prince of Luxembourg, Prince of Bourbon-Parmais. Prince Charles is the first child of heir apparent to the throne Guillaume of Luxembourg and was born on 10th May, 2020. Prince Charles, who is the second in line of succession, was born in the maternity department of the Grand Duchess Charlotte Hospital in Luxembourg. After his birth a 21-gun salute was fired from the cannons at Fort Thüngen. On the face of this 2 Euro coin is an image of heir to the throne, Guillaume of Luxembourg, with his wife Stéphanie de Lannoy and their son Prince Charles. Furthermore, the country name 'LËTZEBUERG' (Luxembourg) and the text 'S.A.R. DE PRËNZ CHARLES' (Prince Charles) together with his date of birth, 10.05.2020, are shown. Luxembourg has issued this special 2 Euro coin in two different variants, the Photo variant and the Relief variant. This Proof 2 Euro coin is minted in the photo variant. At the bottom left is the mint mark 'Servaasbrug' of Mr Satijn, the Dutch mint master. At the bottom right is the mint mark of Luxembourg, the Lion. The coin is presented in a beautif ul cassette and has an edition of only 2,500 copies.
