Product Description

Prince Henry of Orange-Nassau (Prince Henri d'Orange-Nassau) was a son of King Willem II of the Netherlands. Prince Hendrik had a long career in the navy and is the only one of the Oranje-Nassau family who visited the Dutch colony of the Dutch East Indies at that time. He became governor of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in 1850, where his brother King William III had appointed him. He lived alternately in the Netherlands and Luxembourg, but in his later years Prince Henri lived mainly in Luxembourg, loved by the people, loved by the seafarers. Prince Henri was born 200 years ago in Soestdijk Palace, and this is why Luxembourg has decided to issue a special 2 Euro coin. This coloured 2 Euro coin shows a portrait of Prince Henri of Orange-Nassau together with the current Grand Duke Henri. His name Prince Henri d'Orange-Nassau is shown in an arc on the left. The years of his birth and death (1820-1879) are shown centrally. Below is the country name Luxembourg along with the year of issue, 2020. This coloured 2 Euro coin is packed in a coin capsule.
