Product Description
Prince Henri of Orange-Nassau was a son of King Willem II of the Netherlands. Prince Henri had a long career in the navy and is the only one of the Orange-Nassau family who visited the Dutch colony of the Dutch East Indies at the time. He became governor of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg in 1850, where his brother King William III had appointed him. He lived alternately in the Netherlands and Luxembourg, but in more recent years he lived mainly in Luxembourg, loved by the people and by the seafarers. He was born 200 years ago in Soestdijk Palace (near Utrecht, Netherlands), which is why Luxembourg decided to issue a special 2 Euro coin. The coin features portraits of Prince Henri of Orange-Nassau and the current Grand Duke Henri. His name 'Prince Henri d'Orange-Nassau' is shown on the left. The years of his birth and death (1820-1879) are shown beneath his portrait. The country name Luxembourg and the year of issue, 2020, are shown at the bottom of the coin. The coin is packed in a printed coin holder.
