Luxembourg 2 Euro 2021 Grand Duke Jean Relief Variant. Luxembourg 2 Euro 2021 'Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg'. Jean was Grand Duke of Luxembourg from 1964 to 2000. He was born in Colmar-Berg Castle and was the eldest son of Grand Duchess Charlotte. On 9th April, 1953, he married Princess Josephine Charlotte and had five children. Jean of Luxembourg was an officer in the army and witnessed the liberation of Brussels in early September 1944. He received several military awards in his life and lived to the ripe old age of 98 years. To commemorate the fact that Jean van Luxemburg was born 100 years ago, on 5th January, 1921, Luxembourg has decided to issue a special 2 Euro coin. On the face of the coin is an image of Jean with his son, Grand Duke Henri, on the right. Furthermore, the text 'GROUSSHERZOGE VU LËTZEBUERG' (Grand Duke of Luxembourg) together with the year of issue, 2021, are shown. Luxembourg has issued this special 2 Euro coin in two different variants - the Photo variant and the Relief variant. This is the æReliefÆ variant of the coin - it is packed in a printed coin holder.
