Product Description
Luxembourg 2 Euro 2022 '50 Years Luxembourg Flag' with Mint Mark. The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg has existed since the year 963. Luxembourg, which was part of the German Empire for centuries, was annexed by the Netherlands in 1815. In 1867 Luxembourg was recognized as a sovereign state by the Netherlands, but under the red-white-(light)blue flag. From 1890, after the death of the Dutch King William III, Luxembourg became truly independent. The Luxembourg flag was not legally introduced until 1972 and it has been the official flag of Luxembourg ever since. The trade flag that Luxembourg uses for shipping is a blue and white flag with a red lion on it. Because it has been 50 years since the Luxembourg Flag was legally established, Luxembourg has decided to issue a special 2 Euro coin with this as its subject. On the face of the 2022 Luxembourg 2 Euro coin '50 Years Luxembourg Flag' is an image of Grand Duke Henri with the Luxembourg Flag to the left of this image. Furthermore, the country name LËTZEBUERG (Luxembourg) is displayed together with the years 1972 and 2022. This coin is packaged in a printed coin holder.
