Luxembourg 5 Euro 2019 Château de Bourglinster

In the series of Luxembourg 5 Euro coins with the theme of historic castles, the subject of the 2019 coin is the Bourglinster castle, also known as Château de Bourglinster. The castle is first mentioned in official writings in 1098! Around 1385 the castle was expanded with two defence towers and a canal, the chapel was also extended. The castle was partially destroyed in 1543 but in 1548 the castle was repaired and the castle was even extended again with an extra Renaissance wing. In 1968 the castle became the property of the Luxembourg state and all buildings were completely restored. Nowadays the castle is used for concerts, meetings, exhibitions, events, etc. One of the best restaurants in Luxembourg is located in this beautiful castle, serving delicious food.
