Jean de Luxembourg (John of Luxembourg) was Grand Duke of Luxembourg from 1964 to 2000. Jean de Luxembourg was born in the castle of Colmar-Berg (in central Luxembourg) and was the eldest son of Grand Duchess Charlotte. On 9th April 1953, he married Princess Josephine Charlotte and they had five children. Jean van Luxemburg was an officer in the army and experienced the liberation of Brussels in early September 1944. He received several military awards in his life and was no less than 98 years old! On the obverse of the coin is a portrait of Jean de Luxembourg dressed as an officer. In a semi-circle above this portrait is his name 'Jean Grand-Duc de Luxembourg'. The years of his birth and death, 1921 - 2019, are also shown, with the monogram above. The value indication of 5 Euro is shown to the left centre of the coin. The mint marks, the lion and the Servaas bridge, are shown at the bottom left. On the reverse of the coin is an image of Grand Duke Henri looking to the right. Furthermore, the country name Lëtzebuerg and the year 2019 are shown vertically. The coin is presented in a luxury package.
