Malta 1, 2, & 5 Cent 2019

These are the 1, 2 & 5 cent coins of Malta 2019. On these coins the altar of the Mnajdra temple is depicted. The Mnajdra temples are one of the best preserved megalithic temples in Malta. The temple actually consists of three temples that were built at different times: the northern temple from 3600 BC (now known as BCE - before the common era), the middle temple is from around 3150 BC and the southern temple around 2500 BC. The shape of the temple resembles a cloverleaf with walls that consist of two parallel walls two metres apart. Some of the megalithic limestone blocks are more than 6 metres high! Under the image of the altar of the Mnajdra temple the country name Malta is shown with the year 2019 beneath it. Within the lowest of the 12 stars of Europe (at the 6 o'clock position) the letter 'F' is printed which indicates that these coins were struck in France.
