Malta 1,2 & 5 Cent 2021

These are the 1, 2 & 5 Cent coins of Malta 2021. The altar of the Mnajdra temple appears on these coins. The Mnajdra Temples are one of the best preserved megalithic temples in Malta. The temple actually consists of three temples that were built at different times - the northern temple from 3600 BC, the middle one from around 3150 BC and the southern temple from around 2500 BC (NB - BC is now known as BCE - before the common era). The shape of the temple resembles a cloverleaf with walls consisting of two parallel walls at a separation of two metres. Some of the megalithic limestone blocks are over 6 metres high! Under the image of the altar of the Mnajdra temple is the country name Malta below which is the year 2021. Within the lower star of the coin (at the 6 o'clock position) is the letter 'F'. This indicates that these coins are minted in France.
