Product Description
Malta has issued a 10 Euro coin with the theme 'The end of the Second World War'. On 1st September, 1939, Germany invaded neighbouring Poland, which was the starting action of World War II. On 11th June, 1940, Malta was attacked by Italian bombers. Malta at that time did not have a strong army and could not really do anything against the attacks. Between March and April 1942, more than 500 bombs were dropped on the island and Malta wanted to surrender. Fortunately, Malta was saved by the convoy called Pedestal. To reflect on the most bloody war in history Malta has decided to issue a 10 Euro coin. Three biplanes are depicted on the face of the coin. The island of Malta is represented under the planes. The text '75TH ANNIVERSARY - END OF THE SECOND WORLD WAR' is also shown. On the reverse of the coin is the coat of arms of Malta together with the year of issue, 2020. The coin is presented in a beautiful case and has an edition of only 2,000 copies.
