Portugal 2,5 Euro 2017 Fatima

The theme of this special 2.5 Euro from Portugal 2017 is 100 years Fatima. On May 13 1917, three shepherd children, Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta went with a small flock to a hill near the town of Fatima. Suddenly there was a thunderstorm following which The Beloved Mary suddenly appeared. The children were not to be scared and Mary said that she would appear five more times that year. This happened and there were three prophecies about the future, the Russian Revolution, the end of the First World War along with the announcement of the Second World War, and the attack on Pope John Paul II. Fatima attracts four million visitors annually! On the face of the coin is an image of Maria with the text Aparicoes de Na. Sa. De Fatima. To the left of this text is the year 1917 and to the right of the text the year 2017. On the reverse of the coin, at the top is the country name of Portugal and the bottom of the coin shows the the value of 2.50 Euro.
