Portugal 2 Euro 2017 Raul Brandão Coloured

In 2017 it was 150 years ago that the famous Portuguese writer Raul Brandão (12/3/1867 - 05/12/1930) was born. Raul Brandão was born near Porto and chose to enlist into the army. In 1912 he left the army and fully committed himself to writing various books. Because Raul Brandão came from a family of sailors his stories were often about fishermen, sailors and the sea. In 2017 it will be 150 years since Raul Brandão was born and to commemorate this Portugal has issued a special 2 Euro coin. On the face of the coin is an image of Raul Brandão. This image is perfectly coloured with even the details, such as its typical speckled bow tie, depicted. On the left side of the coin is his name Raul Brandão as well as the years 1867 and 2017. These are coloured red and green to conform with the Portuguese colours. On the right side of the coin you see the country name Portugal coloured in yellow, this colour also appears in the coat of arms of Portugal. The coin is packaged in a coin capsule.
