Product Description

On 24 December 1768, the Portuguese National Printing Company was established. In 1833 the name was changed to National Press. The National Press was the printer of, among others, the Gazeta de Lisboa, the current Diario da Republica, the official state newspaper of Portugal. In the year 1972 the National Press merged with the Casa de Moeda (State Mint) from which the current INCM was formed. The INCM is therefore the merger of the National Printing House and the Casa de Moeda. Among other things, the current Portuguese passports and ID cards are produced there along with the Portuguese Euro coins. In the year 2018 it is 250 years ago that the Portuguese National Printing Company was established and to commemorate this Portugal has issued a special 2 Euro coin. At the top of the coin are the years 1768 and 2018 below which is the text æImprensa Nacional, Duzentos e Cinquenta - 250 AnosÆ (National Printing Company 250 years). Under this text is the country name Portugal and the Roman numerals MMXVIII (2018). T he text and letters are green (40%) and red (60%) coloured in accordance with the main national colours of Portugal.
