Portugal 2 Euro 2022 'First South Atlantic Flight'. On 30th March, 1922 pilot Sacadura Cabral and navigator Gago Coutinho departed from Lisbon in their Fairey F III single-engine seaplane towards their final destination of Rio de Janeiro. Several intermediate stops, and three different Fairey F III seaplanes, were used to make this crossing possible. Finally, on 17th June, 1922 the men arrived in Rio de Janeiro. It has been 100 years since Sacadura Cabral and Gago Coutinho made this first South Atlantic Flight, which is why Portugal has issued this special 2 Euro coin. The face of the coin features an image of the Fairey F III seaplane. Furthermore, the text TRAVESSIA DO ATLANTICO SUL (First South Atlantic Flight), the country name Portugal, and the years 1922 - 2022 are also displayed. This 2 Euro coin is mounted in an attractive Coincard. Pilot Sacadura Cabral and navigator Gago Coutinho are depicted on the front of the coincard whilst the technical data of the coin is shown on the back of the coincard. The quality of the coin is BU (Brilliant Uncirculated).
