Product Description
Portugal issues a series of coins with the theme of the threatened national Flora and Fauna. The subject of this special 5 Euro coin of the year 2018 is the Iberian Imperial Eagle (Aquila Adalberti). The Iberian Imperial Eagle is found in the south of Spain and Portugal and was virtually extinct some decades ago. Fortunately, there are now several hundred pairs of which a very limited number of pairs (only 11) are found in Portugal. The Iberian Imperial Eagle has a wingspan of about 2 metres and weighs about 3 kilograms. He is dark in colour and feeds on animals such as rabbits, pigeons, ducks and crows. On the face of the coin is an image of the head of the Iberian Imperial Eagle. At the top of the coin is the name Aguia Imperial (Imperial Eagle). At the bottom of the coin is the country name Portugal and the year 2018. On the reverse of the coin the Iberian Imperial Eagle is depicted diving on its prey. On the right the coat of arms of Portugal is shown with the value indication of 5 Euro below.
