San Marino 2 Euro 2019 Leonardo Da Vinci Coloured

Leonardo da Vinci is one of the most famous people of antiquity who was known as a true genius. Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) died 500 years ago. He was a painter, writer, physicist, chemist, engineer, philosopher, inventor, architect and so on! Leonardo da Vinci painted a lot but did not finish many of his works. Of the paintings that he did finish the best-known works are 'The Mona Lisa' and 'The Last Supper'. Leonardo da Vinci also developed the 'Vitruvian man' which is seen as the symbol of humanism in which man is represented as the centre of the universe. The Vitruvian man is depicted on the Italian 1 Euro coin. Some of his inventions are û ball bearings, a machine gun, a parachute, a diving suit, a tank and in 1495 he sketched the first robot! This coloured 2 Euro coin beautifully shows a detail of his work 'Baptism of Christ' in the original colours. On the face of the coin the face of a kneeling angel is depicted holding the mantle of Jesus. This was painted by Leonardo da Vinci in 1475. Around the image is the text 'San Marino - 1519 Leonardo 2019'. The coin is packed in a coin capsule.
