Product Description

Giovanni Battista Tiepolo (5th March, 1696 - 27th March, 1770) was one of the best painters of the eighteenth century and was known for his deep, warm colours that were strongly applied. He was considered the last master of the Venetian school. His works were influenced by Paolo Veronese and he was known for his frescoes of which his largest work was 795 square metres in size. Giovanni Battista Tiepolo was offered assignments all over Europe but declined many of them due to his busy schedule. It has been 250 years since Giovanni Battista Tiepolo died, which is why San Marino has decided to issue a 2 Euro coin with him as its subject. The face of the coin shows a detail of the painting 'Agar and Ishmael' which hangs in the Scuola Grande di San Marco in Venice. Above this detail his name 'TIEPOLO' is displayed. In the centre of the coin is his year of death, 1770, and the year of issue, 2020. At the bottom of this 2 Euro coin is the country name San Marino. The coin, in the quality UNC, is packaged in a printed coin holder.
