Product Description

Alexander Stefan Rudnay (1760 - 1831) was a Hungarian-Slovak Archbishop. Alexander Rudnay started as a pastor but quickly worked his way up in the church. Alexander Rudnay came from a noble family, he obtained his doctorate (of theology) in 1784. His spiritual calling began in 1785 when, as a chaplain, he left for Castá. He supported Slovak culture all his life and ensured that Slovak parishes were controlled by Slovak priests. In 1819 he became the official archbishop of Esztergom. On the face of the coin is a picture of the Esztergom basilica. The country name, Slovensko (Slovakia), along with the Slovakian coat of arms is also displayed. Alexander Rudnay's signature is reproduced above the country name. The year of issue, 2019, is shown at the bottom left. On the reverse of the coin Alexander Rudnay is portrayed together with the coat of arms of his cardinal. His name, Alexander Rudnay, is displayed under his coat of arms. The Slovak text "VYMENOVANIE ZA OSTRIHOMSKÉHO ARCIBISKUPA" (Appointment as Archbishop of Esztergom) is printed in an arc around the outer part of the coin. The value indication of 10 Euro is shown on the right. The coin is packaged in a coin capsule and is supplied with an information leaflet.
