Product Description

On 4 May 2019 it is exactly 100 years since that Milan Rastislav Stefanik died. He died in a plane attack. He will have been shot down by accident because the Italian flag bears the same colours as the Hungarian flag. At the time the Hungarians and Czechoslovakia were enemies of each other. Yet many people think of this as a political murder. Milan Rastislav Stefanik was a Slovak fighter pilot who also flew for the French Air Force. He was also the first Minister of War of Czechoslovakia. In addition to the fact that Milan Rastislav Stefanik meant a lot to the army, he was also a meteorologist and mathematician and he knew a lot about physics. On the face of this 10 Euro coin Milan Rastislav Stefanik is portrayed looking to the left, his name is beautifully written around him. Next to the image of Milan Rastislav Stefanik is an image of a Caproni Ca. 3. This is a bi-plane of the type in which Milan Rastislav Stefanik flew when he was shot down. His birth date 1880 and the year in which he died 1919 are also displayed. On the reverse of the coin is a picture of the small coat of arms of Czechoslovakia - a Czech crowned lion with the Slovak coat of arms printed on his chest. At the top of the coin is the country name SLOVENSKO with the year of issue 2019 below. On the bottom of the coin are the words 'VERIT, MILOVAT, PRACOVAT' which mean 'faith, love, work'. To the right is the value indication of 10 Euro below which is the coat of arms of Slovakia. The Slovakian mint mark is also displayed. The coin is supplied in a coin capsule with an additional information brochure.
