Product Description

Andrej Sládkovic was a Slovak poet and preacher. He studied theology at the University of Halle and became a minister in Hrochot. Andrej Sládkovic co-founded the æMatica SlovenskáÆ. This Cultural Institution laid the foundation for the Slovak museums and libraries. The museum (Marína House), located in the Slovak municipality of Banská ètiavnica, contains the longest love poem in the world, which was written by Andrej Sládkovic. It has been 200 years since Andrej Sládkovic was born which is why Slovakia has decided to issue a 10 Euro coin in his honour. On the obverse of the coin is a portrait of Andrej Sládkovic. On the reverse of the coin are many flowers, with a silhouette of his beloved Marína Pischlová. The country name Slovensko (Slovakia), the value indication of 10 Euro and the year of issue, 2020, are displayed side by side in an arc around the outer edge of the coin. The coin is packed in a coin capsule and comes with an information brochure.
