Product Description
2021 Slovakia 10 Euro 'Nanga Parbat'. Slovakia has issued a 10 Euro coin to honour the Slovak mountaineers who climbed Mount Nanga Parbat for the first time in 1971. This expedition was led by Ivan Galfy and the group consisted of 16 people, all from Slovakia. Nanga Parbat is an 8,125 metre (26,660 feet) high mountain that lies in the west of the Himalayas, in Pakistan. The Nanga Parbat is one of only 14 mountains in the world that is higher than 8,000 metres! It has been 50 years since the Slovak mountaineers climbed the Nanga Parbat, which is why Slovakia has issued this special 10 Euro coin. On the face of the coin a person is depicted, in full outfit, climbing the Nanga Parbat. Furthermore, the name of the mountain, Nanga Parbat, the height 8,125 metres and the year 1971 are also shown. On the reverse of the coin are 2 people who are shown holding a flag, that is flown from a pickaxe, because they have reached the peak. Additionally, the country name SLOVENSKO (Slovakia), the value indication of 10 Euro and the year of issue, 2021, are displayed. The coin is packed in a coin capsule.
