Product Description

4 May 2019 is exactly 100 years since 'Milan Rastislav Stefanik' died. He died as a result of an attack on his plane. His aircraft was shot down by accident because the Italian flag bears the same colours as the Hungarian flag. At the time the Hungarians and Czechoslovakia were enemies of each other. Yet many people think that it was a political murder. Milan Rastislav Stefanik was a Slovak fighter pilot who had also flown for the French Air Force. He was even the first Minister of War of Czechoslovakia. In addition to the fact that Milan Rastislav Stefanik meant a lot to the army he was also a meteorologist and mathematician, and he knew a lot about physics. On the face of this coin is an image of Milan Rastislav Stefanik looking to the left. He is wearing a uniform with a luxury version of a 'casque Adrian' (military helmet). The coin shows the country name 'Slovensko' and the dates 1880 - 1919 together with his name 'Milan Rastislav Stefanik'. The year of issue, 2019, is also shown with the mint mark of the Slovakian bank beneath. The coin is mounted in the standard Slovakian Coincard. The edition of this coincard is only 4,000 copies!
