Aurel Boleslav Stodola (11/05/1859 - 25/12/1942) was born 160 years ago in Liptovský Mikuláü, Slovakia. He was a Slovak engineer and an inventor. Aurel Boleslav Stodola had a lot of contact with a student of his - Albert Einstein. Aurel Boleslav Stodola played a major role in the development of the steam turbine, he continued to optimize the steam turbine developed in 1884 by Sir Charles Parsons. He is well-known, especially in the field of engineering. Aurel Boleslav Stodola is also known for the arm prostheses that he designed to assist the wounded from the 1st World War. He has received the highest awards in the field of engineering in Switzerland, Germany and England. To commemorate the birth of Aurel Boleslav Stodola, 160 years ago, Slovakia has issued a BU set to commemorate him. The issue of this BU set is just 2,000 pieces!
