Slovakia BU 2021 Bojnice Castle

This is the 2021 BU set of Slovakia 'Bojnice Castle'. Bojnice Castle is located near the Slovak town of Bojnice. The original wooden fortress was built in the year 1108. In the ensuing centuries the fortress was rebuilt several times and was mainly inhabited by noble families. The last time Bojnice Castle was rebuilt was in the year 1910, completely in Romantic style. The blue towers are the most characteristic. The original cave of the wooden fortress can still be visited. Also located here is the oldest tree known in Slovakia, a lime tree called 'King Matthias' which is no less than 700 years old! In this 2021 BU set from Slovakia all 8 euro coins are included - as an extra a medal, which shows Bojnice Castle, is also contained in the set.
