Spain 10 Euro 2020 Historical Trains

Spain has issued a beautiful 10 Euro coin with the theme 'Historical Trains'. This coin shows the locomotive called 'Martorell'. On 28th October, 1848 this beautiful steam locomotive ran on the 28.5 kilometre long railway line between Barcelona and Mataró. This first railway line in Spain was commissioned because a businessman named Miquel Biada invested in the project. This steam locomotive could reach a speed of almost 50 kilometres per hour and it took almost 35 minutes to complete the route. The Martorell was built in England by the Barcelona-Martorell Railway Company. This oldest steam locomotive in Spain can still be admired in Villanova, Spain. On the face of the coin is an image of the Martorell, shown in its original colours. Furthermore, the text 'Locomotora Barcelona-Mataró' (Locomotive Barcelona-Mataró) is shown. Additionally, at the top of the coin is the text 'XII SERIE IBERO AMERICANA' (12th Series Ibero-Americana). And at the bottom of the coin is the text 'Trenes Históricos' (Historical trains). On the reverse, in the centre of the coin, is the coat of arms of Spain below which is the name of the King 'Felipe VI Rey de España'. The year of issue, 2020, is also shown. The coin is presented in a beautiful case and is supplied with a certificate of authenticity.
