Vatican 10 Euro 2020 The Pieta - Michelangelo - Art and Faith

The Vatican is issuing a new series of coins dedicated to Art & Faith. The theme of the first in this series is 'De Pietà' a sculpture made by Michelangelo. This World-famous marble sculpture was created in the year 1499 and is located in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican. The marble artwork depicts the moment when Jesus is taken from the cross and carried by his mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary. The marble artwork is no less than 175cm high and 195cm wide. On the face of the coin the sculpture 'De Pietà', created by Michelangelo, is depicted. The country name 'CITTA DEL VATICANO' (Vatican City) is displayed in an arc at the top of the coin whilst the value indication of 10 Euro is found at the bottom. On the reverse of the coin is the Vatican coat of arms, under which is the text 'MISERANDO ATQUE ELIGENDO' (chosen by grace). The coin is presented in an attractive official cassette which also includes details of the coin.
