2021 Vatican 2 Euro coin 'Dante'. Dante Alighieri died 700 years ago in the year 1321. To commemorate this the Vatican has issued this special 2 Euro coin. Dante, along with Boccaccio and Petrarch, had a major influence on the Cultural Renewal of his time. This led to more Humanism and modern culture. Dante is not only an icon of literature but also very influential on medieval culture. He has masterfully described this in his famous works. His works are still regarded, internationally, as the greatest literary masterpieces. On the face of the coin Dante is portrayed next to one of Florence's most famous monuments - the Palazzo Vecchio. The country name CITTA DEL VATICANO (Vatican) is also shown together with the years 1321 - 2021. The coin is packed in a printed coin holder.
