Vatican 20 Euro 2021 Saints Peter and Paul

This is the 2021 Vatican 20 Euro coin. The Vatican is issuing a series of coins dedicated to Art & Faith, this is the second in the series and this 20 Euro coin refers to the martyrdom of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. This martyrdom is commemorated every year on 29th June by the Catholic Church. The bronze statue of Peter, located in the Vatican Basilica, is the focal point where the Pope commemorates this martyrdom. The sculpture dates from the 13th century with the feet completely worn off because the feet of this sculpture have been kissed and caressed for hundreds of years by the Pilgrims who visit the sculpture. On the face of the coin the bronze statue of the Apostle Peter is depicted, with a stained-glass window of St. Peter's Basilica, in Rome, in the background. The country name 'CITTA DEL VATICANO' (Vatican) is also shown along with the value indication of 20 Euro. The reverse of the coin features the Vatican coat of arms below which is the text 'MISERANDO ATQUE ELIGENDO' (chosen by grace). The coin is delivered in the accompanying official Cassette.
